About the Fox Hollow Men’s Golf Club
Founded in 1975, Fox Hollow Men's Golf Club is a private, non-profit club that plays most of its tournaments at Fox Hollow Golf Course, in Timonium, Maryland. Fox Hollow is a public golf course owned by Baltimore County and managed by the Baltimore County Revenue Authority (BCRA). The par 70 course, measuring 5,800 yards from the white tees, is enjoyable for all handicap levels with it’s 66.8/112 rating and slope.
Annual enrollment is open to the public and golfers of all skills are encouraged to join. The Club is managed by an elected Board of Directors and officers who organize 20-25 events played April through October, and includes a 2-day Club Championship in October. The events include 12 handicap tournaments where points are awarded based on finishing position culminating in the winner of the Fox Hollow Cup or Player of the Year. A highlight of the club is the annual Match Play tournament, where the top 32 finishing players in the open qualifying tournament compete in a 6 hole quad format over two days, culminating in an 18 hole championship match between the final two advancing golfers. Other events include Team Competitions, a Travel Series to other courses within an hour radius, and a year end Ryder Cup style match between the top 24 finishers on the Fox Hollow Cup Point list.
The field for each tournament is divided into flights for stroke play and into teams for team events. Most tournaments are based on your full handicap index. Handicaps are maintained by the Maryland State Golf Association (MSGA) which is included in your membership fee. USGA Rules of Golf govern all play, while adhering to local rules that apply, mainly to speed up play. All strokes and penalties are counted, there are no mulligans, and all puttls must drop unless it is during match play. In particular, you must adhere to Rule 35, which simply says HAVE FUN!
